Is cheating a health risk?

Cheaters less likely to test for STD'sA recent study from The Journal of Sexual Medicine found that that people, who cheat in relationships, are less likely to practice safe sex with all their partners. For this conclusion researchers collected data on 801 individuals. 308 of them reported being unfaithful to a partner and 493 were in negotiated non-monogamous relationships, meaning people who have an agreement with their partner to engage in sex with others.

Sharp rise of oral cancer

Some strains causes problemsFigures revealed today from the Cancer Research UK show that oral cancer cases have raised to approximately 6.200 cases in 2011. Two-third of the patients are men. A decade ago there were about 4,400 cases. Most cases are linked to smoking and drinking. There is, however, a significant rise of oral cancer caused by infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV) through oral sex.

Male contraceptive pill?

Maybe.  According to a paper published on May 24 in the open access journal, PLos Genetics has completed the first stage in the development of the first natural non-hormonal male contraceptive. This research was led by the University of Edinburgh. Experiments in mice found that the gene Katnal1 was vital for the final stages of making sperm.  

Vaginal rings: higher risk of a blood clot

Find your own methodResearchers at the University of Copenhagen followed more than 1.6 million women in Denmark for a decade to compare the risks of developing blood clots when using skin patches, vaginal rings or the contraceptive pill.  The results: women using a vaginal ring or skin patch are at double the risk compared to those taking the pill.
