More fun with vibrators and dildos

The vibrator, you can find one in almost any nightstand. But did you know that the vibrator once was used by doctors to cure women with "hysteria" and vaginal problems? In the time of Hippocrates (from ± 460 BC - 377 BC) hysterical women were given vaginal massages. Of course that was laborious work, but the orgasm recipe proved to be very popular. The treatment became much easier when an American doctor invented the first mechanical vibrator in 1869. It was a large and bulky device that worked on steam, so it was not suitable for home use.

The film Hysteria, from 2011, tells the story of a doctor who treated women sufferring from depression, rage and irritability with pelvic massage. When electric vibrators came in use,  many women found their way to his practice for treatment. After the invention of the smaller handy vibrators women could treat themselves at home. No wonder the vibrators became very popular. They were available everywhere and in every kind of store. They were widely accepted and promoted because they stimulated the welfare of women. Vibrators and dildos became a taboo when the porn industry started to use the devices in their movies. They got a sexual function and lost their medical significance. In the 60's the use of the vibrator outside the porn industry became popular again. In the beginning they were still cautiously sold as "massage bars for stiff muscles" and the advertising photos from that era are interesting to see. Colors and designs

The first vibrators were made of hard material and penis shaped. Today you have a variety of choices from different models, sizes and colors so you can decide which one you like best. Still a lot of vibrators have the shape of a penis, but there are also many models that have a less realistic appearance. They are available in various colors, with or without ribs, with or without clitoral and / or anal stimulation. The material is generally soft or hard plastic, sometimes metal or even glass.

Dildos
