Women with tattoos are ‘easier’ to approach

A woman with a tattoo is much easier to approach, at least, that is what French professor claims after a team from France's Université de Bretagne-Sud carried out a study on the beaches of Brittany during the summers of 2008 and 2009.

The team surveyed men on the beaches of Brittany and found out that:

• Attractive women wore temporary tattoos while sunbathing 50% of the time
• When wearing the tattoos they were seen as more available
• Young men rated the tattooed women as more attractive and more dateable

In the study, 11 university-aged women who had been rated as the most attractive out of a group of 58 visited the beach 20 times during the summer. They were wearing a temporary tattoo on their lower back 50% of the time and had a clean skin the rest of the time.
Men were more likely to approach women displaying the tattoos to chat with them. As well they were being quicker in making their approach.

For the second part of the experiment a group of over 400 20something men who were on the beaches at the same time as the sunbathing women were quizzed.

They were asked to answer two questions about the women on the beach:

• What they thought the likelihood was of the girl agreeing to go out on a date with them?
• What was the likelihood of having sex on the first date?

The results showed that women with tattoos were considered both more likely to go on a date and also more likely to have sex on the first date.
