An 63-year-old American tourist died last week after allegedly being pushed down a stairwell by a doorman outside sex club L 'Anonyme in Cannes, at the French Riviera. The man wanted to visit the club, but the doorman didn't want him to enter the club. When the American refused to accept this, the doorman took physical action which caused the fall of the tourist, some 15 metres down. Despite several attempts of emergency services to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is still not clear why the tourist was refused entry, but it might be that he did not meet the dress code. Also the entrance on Saturday nights are allowed only for couples and single women, not for single men.
The doorman denied having pushed the American tourist, but images from surveillance cameras as well as statements from witnesses say otherwise. Therefore he was charged with murder, so France Soir reports. As the club owner went home after the men fell down, he faces charges of failure to help a person in danger, which is a crime in France.
